There Are at Least Two Types of Perfectionists

I was interviewed for a Vice.com article about perfectionism. It details the differences between two types of perfectionists (plus non-perfectionists).

Here are the key details of those types:

  1. Adaptive Perfectionists: Holding high standards along with low levels of self criticism when you do not meet those standard

  2. Maladaptive (or unhealthy) Perfectionists: Having high standards along with high levels of self criticalness when you do not meet your own expectations

  3. Non-Perfectionists: Not holding high standards for yourself or others

There are various outcomes associated with these three different classes. Definitely take a read by clicking here and see what you think.

Perfectionism therapy is a specialty here at our practice, so feel free to contact us. We have in-person and virtual session options in select areas.
